Here is my monthly update! Sorry its taken a few more days than normal as it has been a pretty manic month with 6 weeks on the road in a row.
Through May and June, things have become increasingly more positive as I’ve felt as though my game has been in good shape. I knew I simply had to stay patient and trust in my ability.
The Asiago Open (June 5th – 7th) in Italy was my first of four tournaments. I posted scores of 74,72 narrowly missing the cut and finishing T58th. The course was in good condition with some amazing views!
A quick turn around and a flight to Madrid, Spain then saw me compete in the Peugeot Open (June 11th – 13th) at Club de Campo (Villa de Madrid). Once again I posted steady scores of 75, 73 to finish mid table at T74th. A rain delay the 1st round meant I had to come back at 7am to play my final 9 holes of the first round on Day 2 of the tournament. See below, not a bad view to wake up to on the 1st tee!
I then travelled to Metz, France to play in the Open International de la Mirabelle D’or at Golf de La Grange (June 19th – 22nd). This was where I felt as though I had reached a new level, knowing what to do in order to golf my ball rather than focusing purely on score. This was a 4 round event and after two steady scores of 72, 74 to comfortably make the cut in tough, windy and bone dry conditions I continued on to post 75, 73 to finish T35th.
With only 2 days in between getting back from France, I then travelled to Frilford Heath to play in the BuildBase Open (EuroPro Tour) on June 25th – 27th. A place where I have had a lot of success in the past. With solid scores again of 72, 70 I comfortably made the cut but unfortunately failed to push on in the final round. I woke up feeling pretty poorly and unfortunately this contributed to a 78 final round and finishing 48th outright.
Finally the last tournament was on the horizon before a 10 day break in the schedule. I travelled to southern Brussels, Belgium to play the Flory Van Donck Trophy at the 7 Fontaines Golf Club (2nd – 4th July).
The course was very much like Woburn here in the UK in places and I felt very comfortable with my game coming together. With extremely steady and positive rounds of 70,69 I found myself in T5th position, only 2 shots off the lead going into the final day. After getting off to a great start in my 3rd round, being -3 through 5 I was on a total of -6 at tied for the lead the majority of the day. With tough finishing holes to come, I unfortunately dropped a couple of shots coming in but finished outright 4th after posting another 70 and finishing -4.
This was a huge step for me moving forward as a professional. I have taken a big leap of 40 places up the Order of Merit and am currently in position to qualify for the Tour Championship to be played in Israel later on in the year.
I am just one more good result away from being top 10 and in reaching distance of a Challenge Tour card at the end of the year. With 8 tournaments left to play this year on the Alps Tour I am still seeking further sponsorship.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all my sponsors and followers for your continued support. It is a huge boost knowing I have such an amazing network of people around me, willing me on to do well.
I look forward to seeing you all soon,
All the best,
