I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was supported me up until this point. I simply couldn’t have reached the level I have done without the love, care and support from you all. I don’t take for granted how incredibly lucky I am to have what I have, which in turn allows me to play “care free” in terms of being able to afford to compete and play tournament golf.
I wanted to thank Patrick and Castle Royle for allowing me to be formerly attached to such a wonderful club with amazing facilities. Without their support, I wouldn’t have been able to practice and hone my game. A special thanks to Gordon Jones must also be given as he has supported me ever since I became a member at the club. Acting as my support fund treasurer/manager he does a stirling job and can’t thank him enough for his care and generosity.
Rob Watts has been hugely influential in my progress over the last 6-7 years and want to thank him for all his guidance along the way. Looking to my equipment sponsors, I wanted to thank Cleveland/Srixon – Chris and Iain as well as Loic who helped build me a simply awesome set of irons and wedges at the BMW PGA at Wentworth this year. Tim and Joe at Puma that have allowed me to be kitted out, feel great and play great in the fantastic clothes and shoes I wear.
I owe a huge thanks to Mike and Tony Carney at Penshurst Insurance for helping me out this year too, a relationship I value hugely and cannot thank them enough.
Without members of my support fund there is no way I would have been able to afford to compete this year. I want to recognise Stephen Lane, Gordon Jones, Simon Baylis, Frank Ward, Howard Johnstone, Jules and Richard Tarr, Sally and Paul Collier, Chrissie and Steve Reynolds, Nikki and Phil Ochtman, Luke Murphy, Craig Bassett, Helen MacAndrews, Diana Wilde and the Castle Royle Members Committee for your unwavering support and generosity.
Other massive forms of support have come from Kathy and Malcolm Bruce who allowed me to stay rent free in their lovely house in the La Cala Resort, Spain during Alps Tour Q School last December which led to me obtaining the highest category and full card for 2014 . Jules and Richard Tarr also generously looked after me and allowed me to stay rent free in their amazing house in Myrtle Beach, USA during Feb – March 2014 for some early competition and warm weather training.
There are people behind the scenes that have continued to help me and I must thank them for all they do. Nicky Brass has been responsible for building and maintaining this wonderful website that I can keep everyone up to date on my progress with. Katherine Irving has helped me each week asses the mental side of the sport and change my way of thinking which has undoubtedly helped me go on to win this week. Gillian Sullivan, has helped me become aware of my flexibility (lack of) through her Pilates expertise and can’t thank her enough for helping me become more supple and strong in my core. Finally, Jake Bailey has helped me become aware of the importance of nutrition when playing along with putting together a golf specific program through his TPI expertise to make me fitter and stronger.
Writing this message really hits home just how lucky I am to be in the position that I am in. I only hope that one day I will be able to repay all the kindness, love, care and support you have all given me in so many different ways. Over the years there have been times where I have struggled to believe in myself and my abilities but having such an amazing support network around me made it possible to keep going. There is now no doubt in my mind that I have capabilities of reaching the next level and have you all to thank for making that possible.
I hope to see you all soon and can’t wait to get going and competing in European Tour Q School which starts 23rd September. Thank you all so much again.
