Since January 27th, Tom has been in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for warm weather training, playing and practicing in order to stay sharp and ready for the 2014 season. He has been staying with Richard and Jules Tarr at their home situated at the Legends Golf Resort that boasts 3 great golf courses, a floodlit driving range and great short game practice facilities.
Tom is set to play an NGA tournament while over in the US in order to stay competitive. He was scheduled to play an event on the 11th-13th February at Aberdeen Golf Club, SC but unfortunately due to inclement weather it was cancelled. He will now compete on the 18th-20th February at Long Bay Golf Club, SC (www.longbaygolfclub.com)
Tom has been playing well throughout the practice rounds. One round included excellent scrambling stats shooting 71 (-1) around Long Bay with just 21 putts and 92% scrambling success rate. On his final practice round at Aberdeen Golf Club, Tom was in tournament mode shooting a bogey free 66 (-6) which has helped build confidence moving forward, however it was unfortunate that this venue and event was cancelled.
Tom has also been keeping up his strength and conditioning with a well equipped gym situated in Jules and Richard’s house. An exercise program and diet plan has been put together thanks to Jake Bailey in order to get Tom fit an ready for the season ahead, while collaborating through Skype with Rob Watts each week.
With poor weather and heavy flooding back home in the UK, Tom is extremely lucky to have such fantastic facilities at his disposal in order to gain an edge. He’s continuing to work hard in order to be in the best physical and mental shape ready for the 2014 season starting in April/May.
